App Inventor is used by many schools as a first programming tool in Computer Science Principles courses. There is no fee for this workshop.
Android Mobile Apps
Android is the customizable, easy to use operating system that powers more than a billion devices across the globe — from phones and tablets to watches, TV, cars and more to come. Students enrolled in this course will create mobile apps for any Android device(phone or tablet). Participants in this course will be provided an Android device(phone, tablet) to use during the workshop.
What is MIT App Inventor?
MIT App Inventor is an innovative beginner’s introduction to programming and app creation that transforms the complex language of text-based coding into visual, drag-and-drop building blocks. The simplistic graphical interface grants even an inexperienced novice the ability to create a basic, fully functional android apps. Get more information
Learning Objectives:
- Participants will be exposed to mobile application development on Android devices.
- Participants will be introduced to the use of objects, events, and handlers in an interactive programming environment.
- Participants will be able to create and test simple interactive applications on mobile devices.
- Participants will become familiar with the graphical, spatial, and geographical location capabilities available in the MIT App Inventor programming language.
